The Pruning Loppers are a set of shears used to get cuttings from Trees, so they may be replanted. The player does not initially own this tool, so it must be purchased at some point during their playthrough. The player should look into acquiring them as soon as they're able to, as trees are a limited resource that do not naturally regrow.
With the Loppers equipped, approach a mature Birch, Maple, or Pine tree and press Left click; if done correctly, a cutting should drop. It can then be equipped as if it was a tool, and planted in the ground. Use of the Shovel to prepare the soil beforehand is not required. Cuttings do require a certain amount of free space around them to grow, so it may be necessary to space them apart slightly. After two in-game weeks, the cutting will fully mature into a grown tree that can be harvested, or tapped for Syrup. After an additional two weeks, the newly matured tree will be able to produce its own cuttings, once every two weeks.
